Body fat & other test results - woo hoo!

Yesterday I went to the gym and got a follow-up fitness test. I was originally tested back in October, right before I started working out with the personal trainer once a week. The plan was to re-test in January. The assumption was that I’d be at my goal weight in January – let me just say HA! to that. But anyway, now I am at goal so it was time for the re-test.

I am pretty darned happy with the results of the test. Check it out:

Some observations:

  • Based on my body age, my husband is officially robbing the cradle. OK, maybe not, 15 years isn’t THAT much, but still. I’m a young’un.

  • My husband was concerned that my blood pressure was too low, but I looked it up and I’m fine.

  • I’m disappointed that my biceps don’t seem that much stronger. I can only lift 3 more pounds? Come on, really? That just seems downright WRONG to me. And how annoying is it that bicep strength is the only strength measure? Hello … I have a LOT of other muscles. But nevertheless, that’s the measure. I think I’ll be exercising my biceps a little more in preparation for my next fitness assessment. Full body workout, schmull body workout, I always say. (Kidding, I’m kidding.)

  • My body fat is nice and low but not too low … either the low end of normal or in the athlete range depending on what chart you look at. I do wonder if it's accurate, though. Not to geek out on you or anything, but I really wish she'd repeat the test over a few days so we can assess test-retest reliability here. I'm half tempted to see how much it would cost to get a DEXA test done.

  • My weight ALWAYS measures higher at the gym than at home. I figure that’s not a concern since when I weigh myself at home it’s the morning (vs. the evening at the gym) and I’m near-nekkid (vs. wearing workout clothes and running shoes at the gym).

  • I wasn’t focusing on flexibility, but somehow I got more flexible anyway.

  • In my real age, I got a year older. Dammit.

  • All in all, those are big changes!

Yay!

In other news, my weight is 0.2 lbs above my goal (looking at the past 7-day average). I think this is completely annoying and I’ve decided the answer is to change my goal to “below 134” because I’m perfectly comfortable with how I look at the moment, I'm making healthy eating choices, this is normal fluctuation, and, quite frankly, to think I’m over goal right now is nuts. SO THERE. I thumb my nose at you, you stupid scale.

Fantastic numbers!

You got this at your gym? Hmmm.. maybe something like this would be a good idea as a motivator for me. Hmmmm...

Have you had your choldesterol checked recently? I'd be curious to see how that looked for you (just because it's a personal bugaboo, honestly). I'm sure it's great, given the other numbers.

Robbing the cradle...heh, heh... :)

Keep on keeping on...

I think the body fat number is the most incredible-- you've really transformed yourself into an athlete, remember that the changes go through and through, not just on the outside where you can see them! Congrats, keep up the great work!

Congratulations!

Wow! You're numbers are impressive! And you finshed the Couch to 5K thing! I remember when you were just starting that! Congrats all the way around!

Well done your body fat % is really low now. Thats excellent. Did you do a fitness age test thing? I have thought about doing it through my gym as they do the test for $30 and then I could get it done again later on. I don't really want to a pay a regular personal trainer though...

Well done again :)

That is HUGE progress!! You have done such an amazing job getting to these new stats.
I wouldn't worry about the strength issue- women are much stronger in their legs usually.

Wow what a difference in such a short time. Awesome progress girl!

Holy cow, those are good numbers.

I've got questions!

How is body age determined?

With biceps strength, is it just a single lift?

What's involved in the skinfolds measurement?

Are the numbers in one of the skinfold rows transposed?

Body fat has always been a puzzle to me. I've also been curious about more reliable testing, and curious how much it would cost. I thought it was interesting that the DEXA testing has a 2-3% margin of error. That seems like a lot!

I live in Arizona, and there is that hydrostatic weighing that might be interesting, for $49.95...

Excellent job. :-)

Yeah, you need to change your goal. There is no way to keep it at a specific number all the time.

I think your fitness test results are fabulous. You have done so friggin well, you should be incredibly proud.

that is really cool to see how much you have changed! way to go on making yourself a healthier person!

for the plan I do, when you hit your goal you go into what they call stabilization, before you go into maintenance. during stabilization, you tend to fluctuate a few pounds up or down, so sometimes they (meaning LAWL when they were still open), recommended losing a few pounds below your goal weight so that when you finally maintained, it could be at yoru goal weight rather than above it. so I thikn changing yours is a good idea. I know for me, I have a feeling I will be doing the same thing. but dont drive yourself crazy over those little daily fluctuations either. no one EVER weighs EXACTLY their weight every day.

You have every reason to be proud! I don't know where to get that sort of test done, but it sounds interesting.

Congratulations!

The difference between your actual age and body age is AMAZING! You should feel so proud of yourself.

Amazing progress...Congrats!

You are right, some fluctuations are normal. Maybe it's better to have a goal weight range, rather than one number. Under 134 makes sense.

You rule!!

kudos to you for realizing it's not all about the number on the scale. I too have wanted to try another BF testing method because I want to know if it's accurate...but I guess the bigger picture is that it's clearly going down and that is the goal.

A few days ago Path of Exile 3.8.0 was released. At present, the player's evaluation is excellent, and the demand for POE Orbs is getting higher and higher. But I think most old players' suggestions bought on the website, and I believe they also choose to do so.

The best place to buy Path of Exile Orbs is POECurrency. First of all, the price of POE Orbs on their website is very reasonable. Although it may not be the lowest, the comprehensive data is optimal. POECurrency's security system protects sensitive data from phishing attacks, while the service system ensures that its services are optimal. It provides a place for feedback to ensure the quality of service. With both methods, you can secure your trades. When purchasing from POECurrency, they guarantee 100% of POE Currency from truly experienced POE gamers who earn money. All in all, POECurrency is the best website for my purchase of POE currency!
